Georgia’s Vision for the OGP Chairmanship

Georgia was initially elected as a member of the OGP Steering Committee in 2014. Georgia was elected as a Co-Chair of France – the Chair country - in 2016 and took over the chairmanship for a term of 1 year in 2017.

The Government of Georgia developed the OGP Chairmanship Vision and highlighted four priority areas:

  • Enhancement of citizen involvement and cooperation
  • Ensuring more transparency and combating corruption
  • Introduction of innovations in public service delivery
  • Developing better partnership

The goals developed by the Government of Georgia are relevant to the organizational development strategy and directly address the everyday reality of the citizens.

In 2018 Georgia, as OGP Chair country, hosted the 5th OGP Global Summit in Tbilisi. Stakeholders from 115 countries, hundreds of representatives of civil society, international organizations, academia, and media participated in the event. Up to 80 panels and sessions were conducted within the scope of the Summit.
